Join us in conjunction with Raising Harts, for Sensory-Friendly Photos with Santa at Weir River Farm! Enjoy December on the Farm by meeting Santa Claus, getting your photo taken, and visiting with our furry barnyard friends! During this program, we’ll have a photographer on hand with experience working with neurodivergent children. Photos with Santa taken by the photographer are included with the program, however, participants are welcome to snap their own photos if they prefer. Participants can sign up for a time slot at 10AM, 10:30AM, 11AM, or 11:30AM. Each family/group has approximately five minutes for photos with Santa.
While waiting for your turn to get a photo with Santa, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the barnyard and experience life on one of the last working farms on the South Shore. In the barnyard, meet our ponies, llama, and potbellied pig. Have a chance to interact with our goats, sheep, and chickens. See if you can find our herd of black and white belted Galloway cattle in their pastures. On your way down to the barnyard, enjoy the beautiful StoryWalk™. Then, consider exploring the woodland trails and check out our Farm Store at the Studio on top of the hill. Come experience all that Weir River Farm has to offer!
This program offers dedicated time slots with a reduced number of guests and quieter sensory friendly environment. Any family that would benefit from a limited capacity visit is welcome.
Resources available to prepare for your visit include a Social Story Guide available online, here. A special sensory kit and visual story guide are available in the barnyard. You may borrow noise-reducing headphones and sensory items from the staff in the barnyard for easier access during your visit. Please note that we have a limited number of sensory kits and headphones available and strongly encourage participants to bring anything they expect to need.
Please contact South Shore Engagement Manager, Elyssa Scheck, at weirriver@thetrustees.org, with any questions or special requests.
