About Fall Farm Feathers Birding Hike at Appleton

Come explore the world of migratory and resident fall birds here at Appleton! Bring your binoculars and join us in searching the property for the stunning variety of birds who make Appleton their home or use it as a waypoint in their journey south. In the trees and sky, we might spot birds of prey, including owls, hawks, falcons, and eagles, alongside hardy songbirds and woodpeckers. In our seasonal ponds and wetland areas we may find colorful waterfowl and elegant long-legged waders. What do our many habitats have to offer different species? We’ll learn about bird identification techniques, anatomy, and adaptations, and how to use field guides and birding apps available to anyone with a smartphone.

This event is family-friendly and welcomes learners of all ages. These hikes and interactive education programs cover less ground to accommodate smaller strides and have more frequent stops to look, listen, and learn from our guides.

Please be aware that we do walk the full time of the event and cover approximately 1-2 miles. As such, adult discretion on your child’s ability to manage this activity is advised. A scope or binoculars is a must; loaner pairs are available on a limited basis.
