About Owl Prowl at Appleton Farms Grass Rides

Join us for a very special evening hike to see the owls who might be out and about in the dark winter woods and fields of Appleton Farms. This hike will take place along the wooded trails of Appleton, which has been known to have multiple species of owls. Before our hike, you’ll learn about wintertime nocturnal animals and how to call in the owls. Then, we’ll embark on a 45 – 60 minute hike as we follow some of Appleton Farms’ most beautiful trails to see if we can call any owls to us.

Pre-registration is required. Recommended for ages 12 and up.

This hike begins at the Appleton Farms Grass Rides entrance, off of Highland St. Do not enter the main entrance.

Be sure to wear weather-appropriate clothing and boots or shoes that are appropriate for hiking in potentially wet, snowy and muddy spots, or over uneven terrain. Please bring a flashlight, as this part of the property is away from lights. All hikes are weather permitting. 

Space is limited for this event and pre-registration is required.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) 

• Program Refunds/Cancellations: In the event that a program is cancelled due to severe weather, low enrollment, or other circumstances, we will notify you as soon as possible by email and issue you a full refund within 14 days of the cancellation. If you cannot attend a program as planned, contact appletonfarms@thetrustees.org at least 7 days prior to the start of the program to receive a full refund or transfer to another date/class. Refunds and/or class transfers will not be granted for registration cancellations placed fewer than 7 days before the start of the program. There are no refunds for missed classes. Appleton Farms reserves the right to change program locations, schedules, or instructors when necessary. 
• Where to park: Park at the at the Grass Rides entrance off of Highland St. The group will meet there.
