Welcome to Sensory-Friendly Boo in the Barnyard at Weir River Farm!
This program offers a dedicated hour with a reduced number of guests and quieter sensory-friendly environment. Any family that would benefit from a limited capacity visit is welcome.
It’s Halloween at Weir River Farm! Wear your costume and meet Nutmeg the pony, Ruby the llama, Poppy the goat, and Dixie the potbellied pig, as well as our sheep and herd of black and white belted Galloway cattle. Take part in a festive scavenger hunt, create a seasonal craft, and enjoy a sweet treat. Take some time to read an autumn-themed StoryWalk™ along the grassy “chute” on your way to the barnyard. After your visit to the Barnyard, hike the woodland trails surrounding Weir River Farm to explore and experience all the beauty of Weir River Farm in the fall!
Resources available to prepare for your visit include Story Guide available online. A special sensory kit and visual story guide are available in the barnyard. You may borrow noise-reducing headphones and sensory items from the staff in the barnyard for easier access during your visit. Please note that we have a limited number of sensory kits and headphones available and strongly encourage participants to bring anything they expect to need.
Please contact South Shore Engagement Manager, Elyssa Scheck, at email@example.com, with any questions or special requests.
Pre-registration is required for this event. Infants in carriers are free.
This program will meet in the barnyard. Parking is available in the lot located across from the Studio at 140 Turkey Hill Lane. To reach the barn and barnyard, enter the “chute” directly across from the lot and follow it down to the barnyard.
This program is rain or shine! In the event of cancellation, you will be notified via the email address you used to register and refunded in full within 14 business days. Tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable.
We love our furry friends, however, as this is a working farm with animals, dogs are not permitted on the property.

What is an Autism Welcoming Business?
Autism Welcoming businesses make simple, but impactful accommodations to support individuals and families with autism. They are trained by Autism Alliance staff and partner together to create a supportive environment. Together, we are creating a welcoming and universal accessibility community, leading to an increased quality and socially inclusive life for families and their loved ones with autism. Having neighborhood businesses that care creates a new culture and stronger community for all. Learn more about the Autism Welcoming Initiative here.Register
