
This is a two part course designed for Veterans of Foreign Wars and First Responders interested in photography. This is a two-part course with two separate dates. Immediate family members may be accommodated if space permits. The class will be capped at 10 participants. The only required equipment is a digital SLR or mirrorless interchangeable lens (MIL) camera system with the ability to manually adjust shutter speed, aperture and ISO. Participants must be able to walk 1-2 miles on paved road and dirt trail.
Please have your camera manual available during both sessions.
Participants will complete a camera and photography primer via Zoom on Tuesday June 13th from 6-8PM with time allotted afterwards for questions and discussion. Then, on Saturday June 17th from 3-6PM, we will explore Choate Island (and other areas of the Crane Estate if time permits) to practice. Topics to be covered include types of cameras, parts of the camera, the basics of exposure and additional camera controls, going off ‘Auto’ mode, types of imaging sensors, white balance, RAW vs JPG, tips for composition, lens choices, types of photography, planning tools and additional equipment for expanding the creative potential. We will touch on post-processing applications to consider.
