About Scenic Songs: A Hiking Concert with Heather Maloney

Calling all hiking enthusiasts and music lovers! The Trustees is pleased to announce a full series of “Scenic Songs” hiking concerts to take place at properties across the Commonwealth June through October of 2023. Join us on the trail with some of your favorite performing artists for a guided hike and intimate live music experience like no other. These unplugged and acoustic shows are unique opportunities to enjoy live music in community and nature.

On July 22 join Heather Maloney on the trail at Lyman’s Reserve.

Some albums are monoliths, compressed under the weight of a singular circumstance bearing down on an artist. Heather Maloney’s “Soil in the Sky” is a collective memory. Stitched together from personal and universal ecstasy, loss both intimate and ancient, Maloney’s fourth full-length release is a collage of tremulous folk, existential ballads, and assertive rock. Taken as a whole, it’s a constellation that looks a lot like life.

Heather has toured nationally as a headliner as well as in support of acts like Lake Street Dive, Shakey Graves, Gary Clark Jr., Colin Hay, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and many more. The New York Times called her music “utterly gorgeous, visceral” and SPIN Magazine described her as “stunning, breathy, and starkly memorable”.

Trail snacks provided. We recommend that guests bring a portable camp stool or blanket for seating during the live music set. We will also have a limited number of camp stools available for use.

Lyman’s Reserve Trail Hike Details: Easy

Lyman’s 1.5 miles of trail pass through woodland, sandy coastal, and pine barren habitats. The walk is mostly flat, with one brief, steady incline, and trails are wide. After walking along Red Brook, the group will encounter a scenic stretch of coastal shoreline where we will pause to enjoy Heather Maloney’s unplugged set against the backdrop of Buttermilk Bay and the Cape Cod Canal vertical lift railroad bridge.

Please note that there are no restrooms available at Lyman’s Reserve.

Audience size for this intimate offering is limited and pre-registration is required. Parking directions and meeting space will be communicated via email to registered guests.

In the event of inclement weather, a rain date has been held for this program on July 23 from 4-7pm. Any scheduling changes will be communicated to registered guests via email.
