Welcome to the Sensory-Friendly Sunset Picnic Hour at Weir River Farm!
Live music, local food, craft brews, and the South Shore’s best views!
This program offers a dedicated hour with a reduced number of guests and quieter sensory-friendly environment. Anyone that would benefit from a limited capacity visit is welcome.
Come listen to live music at a decreased volume while enjoying delicious food and drinks from local food trucks and breweries. Pack your picnic blanket and chairs and relax with your friends and family while watching the sun set over the Boston skyline. Greet our iconic Belted Galloway cows as they graze in their pasture. And don’t forget to shop our farm store filled with delicious locally-sourced picnic supplies as well as Trustees-grown meat, dairy, and beautiful produce. Please see the schedule below for more information on musicians and vendors:
July 6, 6PM, featuring Jessi Kenney, Vitamin Sea, and Mom on the Go food truck
July 20, 6PM, featuring Peter Mundt, Barrel House Z, and Lawless food truck
At 6PM the Sunset Picnic will be open to additional guests and music will be played at a higher volume. Participants are welcome to stay past the sensory friendly hour to enjoy the Sunset Picnic longer! The event will conclude for all participants at sunset.
Pre-registration is required for this event. Children 2 and under are free.
Resources available to prepare for your visit include a Social Story Guide available online, here. A special sensory kit is available. You may borrow noise-reducing headphones and sensory items from staff for easier access during your visit. Please note that we have a limited number of sensory kits and headphones available and strongly encourage participants to bring anything they expect to need.
Please contact South Shore Engagement Manager, Elyssa Scheck, at email@example.com, with any questions or special requests.
This program is rain or shine! In the event of cancellation, you will be notified via the email address you used to register and refunded in full within 14 business days. Tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable.
Parking is available in the lot located across from the Studio at 140 Turkey Hill Lane.
We love our furry friends, however, as this is a working farm with live animals, dogs are not permitted on the property.

What is an Autism Welcoming Business?
Autism Welcoming businesses make simple, but impactful accommodations to support individuals and families with autism. They are trained by Autism Alliance staff and partner together to create a supportive environment. Together, we are creating a welcoming and universal accessibility community, leading to an increased quality and socially inclusive life for families and their loved ones with autism. Having neighborhood businesses that care creates a new culture and stronger community for all. Learn more about the Autism Welcoming Initiative here.
Where do we park?
Parking is on-site, in the Weir River Farm parking lot located at 140 Turkey Hill Drive. Some field parking may be available on busy nights.
Is this venue accessible?
The picnic lawn is a flat, grassy field, accessible for most strollers and wheelchairs.
Where do we sit?
There are a limited number of picnic tables available. Consider bringing your own chairs and picnic blankets.
May I bring my own food or drink?
Food and beer trucks will be onsite for the evening. Guests may bring their own picnics or purchase beautiful, locally-sourced items (including ice cream!) from the Farm Store. To protect our environment, please consider bringing reusable plates and containers and bringing your recyclables home.
Will restrooms be available for guests?
Are dogs allowed?
Because this is a working farm, no dogs allowed, please. We hope to see your furry friends at one of our other Trustees properties this summer!
Is the barnyard open during the picnic?
The barnyard will not be open during the picnic although guests may wander down the grassy “chute” to visit the animals from outside the fence.
