On Friday, July 8th, Fruitlands Museum is thrilled to welcome Livingston Taylor to the summer concert stage! Opening the night is Vance Gilbert. Come picnic and enjoy live music with stunning sunset views.

Livingston Taylor’s career as a professional musician has spanned over 50 years, encompassing performance, songwriting, and teaching. Described as “equal parts Mark Twain, college professor, and musical icon, Livingston maintains a performance schedule of more than a hundred shows a year, delighting audiences with his charm and vast repertoire of his 22 albums and popular classics. Livingston has written top-40 hits recorded by his brother James Taylor and has appeared with Joni Mitchell, Linda Ronstadt, Fleetwood Mac, and Jimmy Buffet. He is equally at home with a range of musical genres – folk, pop, gospel, jazz – and from upbeat storytelling and touching ballads to full orchestra performances. In addition to his performance schedule, Livingston has been a full professor at Berklee College of Music for 30 years, passing on the extensive knowledge gained from his long career on the road to the next generation of musicians. Liv is an airplane-flying, motorcycle-riding, singing storyteller, delighting audiences with his charm for over 50 years.

Kicking off the show, enjoy an opening performance by Vance Gilbert. With ten critically acclaimed albums, Vance Gilbert continues to refine his unlikely union of humor, virtuosity, and the unexpected. Whether with classic, original songwriting or ageless interpretations of covers, his is a presentation steeped in deep humanism and bravery, stunning artistry and soul, and contagious, unbridled joy.

Concert begin at 7PM, Gates Open 6pm

This outdoor picnic concert is presented on the lawn on Fruitlands. Bring your blanket and lawn chairs. There is plenty of room on the concert lawn to spread out and get comfortable. Before the concert starts, enjoy a picnic on the lawn and visit the New England Triennial exhibition on view in the Art Gallery which will be open from 6-7pm.

At our picnic concerts, dogs are welcome to join and must be kept on leash at all times.

Food and Beverage:

  • We are pleased to offer multiple food options for this event, with farm fresh menu options from The Hyve at the Fruitlands Café and a grill menu from the Harvard Lion’s Club.
  • The Hyve will be offering a pre-order menu of delicious entrees and tasty treats. If you would like to order from the pre-order menu, Orders Must Be Placed In Advance by 12pm the day of the concert. You can view the menu and order online here. Any questions about advanced orders, please call the cafe at 978-456-3924 x2.
  • The Hyve will also offer a grab and go menu during the event with sandwiches and salads available for purchase.
  • At the event, The Harvard Lion’s Club will be cooking up a tasty menu of hamburgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs, funnel cakes, and more!
  • A bar will be available for beer and wine purchases at the event. Under current liquor laws and restrictions of licensing, any guests wishing to purchase alcohol for consumption on the picnic field must also order food onsite. In the absence of a food purchase, alcohol must be consumed within our licensed area in the open-air event tent and upper patio.
  • Guests are also welcome to bring their own food if preferred.
