
On Friday, July 8th, Fruitlands Museum is thrilled to welcome Livingston Taylor to the summer concert stage! Opening the night is Vance Gilbert. Come picnic and enjoy live music with stunning sunset views.
Livingston Taylor’s career as a professional musician has spanned over 50 years, encompassing performance, songwriting, and teaching. Described as “equal parts Mark Twain, college professor, and musical icon, Livingston maintains a performance schedule of more than a hundred shows a year, delighting audiences with his charm and vast repertoire of his 22 albums and popular classics. Livingston has written top-40 hits recorded by his brother James Taylor and has appeared with Joni Mitchell, Linda Ronstadt, Fleetwood Mac, and Jimmy Buffet. He is equally at home with a range of musical genres – folk, pop, gospel, jazz – and from upbeat storytelling and touching ballads to full orchestra performances. In addition to his performance schedule, Livingston has been a full professor at Berklee College of Music for 30 years, passing on the extensive knowledge gained from his long career on the road to the next generation of musicians. Liv is an airplane-flying, motorcycle-riding, singing storyteller, delighting audiences with his charm for over 50 years.
Kicking off the show, enjoy an opening performance by Vance Gilbert. With ten critically acclaimed albums, Vance Gilbert continues to refine his unlikely union of humor, virtuosity, and the unexpected. Whether with classic, original songwriting or ageless interpretations of covers, his is a presentation steeped in deep humanism and bravery, stunning artistry and soul, and contagious, unbridled joy.
Concert begin at 7PM, Gates Open 6pm
This outdoor picnic concert is presented on the lawn on Fruitlands. Bring your blanket and lawn chairs. There is plenty of room on the concert lawn to spread out and get comfortable. Before the concert starts, enjoy a picnic on the lawn and visit the New England Triennial exhibition on view in the Art Gallery which will be open from 6-7pm.
At our picnic concerts, dogs are welcome to join and must be kept on leash at all times.
