About CraneExplorer: Spring Equinox and Indigenous Knowledge

Celebrate spring and learn about indigenous culture and ways of life on this guided family hike. We will explore the trails, gardens, and grounds of Castle Hill, while searching for signs of spring from leaf buds to birdcalls. Storytelling and hands-on activities will allow families to learn about local indigenous people and the ways of life of these first inhabitants of our region.

To make a day of it, consider adding an optional fire pit experience after the hike – add both tickets to your cart and check out in one transaction.

Please be aware that we do walk the full two hours and cover approximately 2-3 miles. As such, parental discretion on your child’s ability to manage this activity is advised.

CraneExplorer events are designed to appeal to families with children ages 5-12 while giving their parents a great opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the Crane Estate. Hikes cover less ground to accommodate smaller strides and have more frequent stops to look, listen, and learn from our CraneOutdoors guides. Interactive education programs include hands-on activities to engage learners of all ages. Not just a walk in the woods, these family-friendly experiences teach kids and delight adults by exploring the wonder of our coastal habitats and the rich history of the Crane Estate. Family pricing is for one “average” nuclear family (approximately 2 adults and 2 children). If you have a larger family or want to bring additional family members please purchase additional tickets. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
