Andrew Mowbray is part of the Piecework exhibition and current Artist-in-Residence at Fruitlands Museum. For his residency he is creating artwork inspired by the Shaker collection, including a seed sharing kiosk made with found objects and now on display in the Wayside Gallery. With this project, he shares seeds he harvested and invites you to take and plant some, and to share your own seeds with this space.
Select Thursdays this summer, find Mowbray in action out on the grounds, gardening outside of the Shaker Gallery, and adding to his installation in the Wayside Gallery. This is an informal, drop-in opportunity to chat with Andy while he works, ask him about what he is doing, and learn about his artistic process and the ways in which the Shaker collection has inspired his residency work.
Free with Museum Admission. Advanced Passes are available online at www.thetrustees.org/passes
Mowbray will also be offering an interactive Artist Talk, “Seed Banking with an Artist” on Saturday, July 17th, for a more in depth opportunity to hear about his work.
