About Learning Fiber Arts: Interactive Virtual Demos

Join textile artist and educator, Elizabeth Ives, for a series of interactive Virtual Demos with Fruitlands Museum. Explore a new set of skills and different fiber art form in each session. Registered participants will be encouraged to ask questions throughout the demo. While the live sessions will not have time for a full sew-along, session recordings and written instructions will be shared with all participants along with materials lists, allowing students to try out and practice new techniques of fiber arts.

Needle Felting Toys

This live demo will illustrate how to work with needle felting to make simple toy animals. We will discuss different types of wool and equipment, as well as covering the differences between different types of felting. The teacher will be working with a readily available felting kit. Registered participants will be encouraged to ask questions throughout the demo. They will also be sent full material list and instructions for trying their own needle felting project afterwards, including the pattern from them demo. The class does not have time for a full craft-along.

Recommended for teens and adults.

Zoom access info, materials lists, and additional materials will be shared with all registered guests via email in advance of the program.

Register for just one session or join us for all four! Guests interested in all four sessions, please email Catherine at cshortliffe@thetrustees.org for information on a full series discount.

This series is presented in conjunction with the exhibition “Piecework: Resistance and Healing in Contemporary Textile Arts.”
