Herds of hearty reindeer will be visiting South Shore Trustees reservations this winter. Grab your hiking boots, snowshoes or cross-country skis and get the family outside for this special South Shore Reindeer Quest! This self-guided scavenger hunt encourages visitors to scour the trails for herds of handmade, wooden reindeer at World’s End, Whitney & Thayer Woods and Weir River Farm in Hingham, the Norris Reservation in Norwell, and Two-Mile Farm in Marshfield.
Reindeer are crafted by Girl Scout and Cub Scout troops from Hingham, Norwell and Scituate, and hidden along the trails. Each one has a special personality, which visitors can discover by scanning a QR code with their phone. Guests who want to know what flavor of ice cream reindeer like best, or what their favorite reindeer game is can visit all five properties to find out. Along the way, visitors are encouraged to snap a selfie with their favorite deer and post to social media using the hashtags #ssreindeerquest, with #worldsend, #weirriverfarm, #whitney&thayerwoods, #norrisreservation, or #twomilefarm for each reservation to be entered to win a fun prize.
The Trustees would like to thank these Scout Troops:
