Creative Clay Canisters Online Workshop

Creative Clay Canisters Online Workshop

About Creative Clay Canisters Online Workshop

All levels welcome, no ceramic experience necessary. It is recommended that children be at least 5 years of age and work with a collaborating adult.

The class times are Saturdays, January 23 and 30, 10 am to 12 pm.

In this at-home online clay class, participants will hand-build and decorate with ceramic colors an up to 8 inch tall creative clay container of their own inspiration! The instructor will introduce you to the pinching, adding clay, and slab building methods, as well as some surface decorating and clay painting techniques, suitable for any skill level in clay. Your work will be treated with a food-safe glaze and fired after the course, and be ready to pick up for your home in the immediate weeks following drop-off of your final work. This is a great weekend project that can be done solo, or collaboratively with a friend or a child.

Workshop includes:

· 4 hours of instruction and assistance in building and decorating your unique clay container, via Zoom link. One class is for building and soft clay decoration, the second class is for finishing and for color decoration, 2 hours for each class. A “cheat sheet” with an outline of the instructor’s directions will be provided with your tool and supply kit so that projects can continue with further exploration outside of online class times.

· Loaner tool and supply kits, and firing, via designated pick-up/ drop off times. Pick-up of kits occurs Friday, January 22, 3 pm to 8 pm, and drop-off occurs Sunday, January 31, 1 pm to 6 pm, or by appointment.

Tools for building and decorating your work are included via kit, loaned for the course. Kits associated with this course are designed for making one creative clay canister, which can be done solo, or in conjunction with another person (such as one adult and one child working together). Your registration includes 1 kit, an additional kit requires an additional registration.

Although clay won’t permanently stain garments, participants are advised to wear suitable work garments while working with the materials, as well as protect their computer/device from clay, glazes, and water, and to not wash any ceramic materials into household plumbing. A computer/device with video/audio is necessary to maximizeparticipation in the online classes.

You be emailed when your Creative Clay Canister has been fired and is ready to bring home and enjoy!
