Bringing Mindfulness Home

About Bringing Mindfulness Home

Wednesdays, November 11-December 30, 8-9PM, no class November 25

What are you doing to strengthen your ability to learn, be self-aware, skillfully act, and embody compassion for yourself and those around you? Training our minds with mindfulness can shift our baseline level of happiness, strengthen our ability to perform while being present for those we love, navigate upheaval, and help us embody the qualities we most value.

In this six-week virtual mindfulness course, Jamie will thread together the fundamentals of mindful attention—while further knitting together the Lincoln Nursery School and deCordova communities. The class will draw themes from family relationships – it is open to all.

Over the course of the workshop series, participants will:

  • Bring more resilience to your family and work relationships
  • Be more centered when balancing competing priorities in making decisions
(e.g. Do you gather together as an extended family this Thanksgiving? How might you use limited resources to support causes that you care about?)
  • Heighten your ability to understand and navigate intense emotions (yours and others…perhaps during the upcoming general election?)
  • Deepen awareness of your inner critic & gain strategies for working with self-judgment and negative thinking
  • Plant seeds of possibility that might not bear fruit in our lifetimes
  • Gather virtually in a small community—that we co-create—at a time when social connection is vital

This interactive class will be offered via Zoom. Sessions one through six are suitable for adults of all levels of experience with mindfulness. Kids will be invited to a wrap up session so that we can learn from them.

This series is suitable for complete beginners as well as those who are already practicing mindfulness sporadically (e.g. through apps). It would also be a return to the fundamentals for those who already have a daily practice who are interested in diving deeper.

About the Instructor:

As a designer and facilitator of leadership development and mindfulness, Jamie creates experiences in which teams explore impermanence (yes, we are all going to die), creativity (what big challenge are you facing that will require you to lead more creatively), and the link with performance (we can all do better…especially if we can harness flow).

Jamie is a certified teacher by the Mindfulness Training Institute and a student of Mark Coleman from Spirit Rock–under whome he also trained as a nature-based mindfulness teacher.

Big picture, Jamie helps entrepreneurs and changemakers transform themselves and the world. As an executive and transformational coach, an organizational development and mindfulness practitioner, and a senior faculty member with NOLS, he as worked with clients such as: The Gates Foundation, Gogle, Greenpeace, Purpose, and MIT Solve.

REFERENCE from a recent workshop with MIT Solve “Thank you for the workshop–it was amazing. What you shared is really useful for me right now. It’s important that other entrepreneurs have hese kinds of experiences. We are always connected with work, with leading, with goals. The problems that we’re trying to fix with our entrepreneurship are mainly problems of disconnection. So, if we are not connected with ourselves…and managing the end we are not really solving anything.”–Diana Duarte Gomez, Executive Director RETOS & Solver Team Lead, MIT Solve
