About Gardening 101 Series

Hone your skills with this three workshop series on gardening basics. Join expert gardeners for hands on learning about gardening techniques. Each workshop will build off of the last for a deeper understanding of how to build a healthy foundation in spring for the growing season to come. Attend whichever workshop you can, or all three for the full experience.

May 3 – Soil Care

Healthy soil is the foundation of a productive garden. Learn important practices to help build and maintain healthy soil including mulching, low till, soil testing, innoculation, and more. There will be demonstrations on how to prep garden beds for spring planting, and how to care for the soil over the season.

May 10 – Planting and transplanting

May is the peak planting season in the garden. Participate in hands on demonstrations of seeding and transplanting. Learn the best time to plant different types of crops, and best practices for watering and fertilizing.

May 17 – Plant Maintenance

Help your plants get established in the garden. We’ll talk about best watering, mulching, pruning, and early weeding techniques. We will also offer a hands on demonstration of building several types of trellises.

This series is being offered through a sliding scale, $0-20. Please pre-register to attend.
