About Befriend the Barnyard at Appleton Farms

Discover our special barnyard animals! Visit with our Angora rabbits, Nubian goats, dairy cows, beef cattle, pigs, sheep and our friendly flock of heritage chickens and ducks. This friendly (and often very curious!) crew of animals will take center stage as we learn about what makes them so unique.

Befriend the Barnyard is a hands-on barnyard learning experience that allows you and your family to approach our barnyard buddies under the guidance of a professional farm-based educator. You will get to meet our animals while learning about livestock, what it’s like to care for animals on a farm, our historic barn buildings and all about what we do at Appleton Farms.

Your experience might include:

  • Brushing or petting the Angora rabbits or carding or spinning wool
  • Collecting eggs from the chicken coop
  • Brushing the goats in their pasture
  • Observing the the cows in their pasture
  • Collecting treats from the garden for our animals
  • Meeting a variety of production livestock animals
  • Learning about how we raise animals for food

Note: These activities may change depending on: participation group size/age, season, weather, and the mood/temperament of our animals.
