About Summer Concert: Chicken Slacks Funky Summer Dance Party

On Thursday, July 11, The Chicken Slacks return to the Fruitlands stage for their Funky Summer Dance Party!

Get ready to be “twistin’ the night away.” Dubbed “Boston’s Hardest Working Classic Soul, Funk, and R&B Band” by Jed Gottlieb of the Boston Herald, the Chicken Slacks are set to bring the horns and the heat for a Funky Summer Dance Party.

The band, known for their nearly 18-year residency at the famed Cantab Lounge in Central Square in Cambridge, says Thursdays are “your official gateway to the weekend… a classic Soul, Funk, and R&B Dance Party.”

The band consist of 7 members, and their repertoire spans both hits and uncovered gems, from Classic Soul and R&B labels such as Motown of the late 50’s to the early 70’s. Other influences include STAX, Tamla, Atlantic, Volt, Capitol, Chess, Rounder, and Soul records, to name just a few.

The Concert begins at 7pm. Gates Open 6pm.

This Summer Concert is presented on the lawn on Fruitlands. Bring your own blanket, lawn chairs, and picnic basket. There is plenty of room on the concert lawn to spread out and get comfortable. Before the concert starts, enjoy a picnic on the lawn and visit the exhibitions on view in the Galleries which will be open from 6-7pm.

At our Summer concerts, friendly dogs are welcome to join and must be kept on a leash at all times. Please be prepared to pick up after your dog.

No outside alcohol is permitted. The Fruitlands Café will be selling beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages. AllTown Fresh will be ready when the gates open at 6pm to serve a delicious dinner menu.

Please purchase your tickets online in advance.
